Structure of the Costa Rican economy
- Primary Sector :
- Involves agricultural and livestock activities, deforestation and all economic activities related to the countryside.
- Secondary Sector:
- Involves industrial activities, textile manufacturing, maquila and all industrial activities.
- Tertiary Sector:
- It involves services and tourism. It is the most important activity in the country’s economy. 62% of the economy depends on the tertiary sector and 63% of the population works in this sector.
Exports:
- The manufacturing sector, the one that has grown the most in recent years, represents 78% of the country’s total exports, while agricultural exports represent 22% of the country’s total exports.
